Dolly updates

Dolly is on another adventure and is going to Northern Spain. I have had a text from the folk hiring her to say they are having a fantastic time and really enjoying the experience.
Dolly has been featured on the front cover of East Magazine which was relaunched in August and is now distributed in Brighton, Lewes, Eastbourne and Hastings - and all places in between. Some great pictures of Dolly which I will publish on the Blog.
Eastbourne is getting ready for the annual Airshow called Airbourne. It runs from Thursday to Sunday. Just a shame that Dolly is not here to take part. She would attract a lot of attention if she was parked on the seafront this weekend. Airbourne is a brilliant event and will feature the Red Arrows - if you have never been make sure you don't miss it.
Bookings for Dolly have been flying in and she is booked until mid October!

Dolly goes to Geneva

Dolly left yesterday and headed to Eurostar with Mark and Sally for a trip to Geneva. They are going to a wedding in Geneva and thought it would be a great way to travel - how right they are. Before leaving Dolly had an outing along the seafront in Eastbourne where Extreme sports weekend was in full swing. Dolly came back from Dorset on Friday where she had a wonderful few days with Jenny and Spencer - she certainly gets out and about.

Hopefully I will have some exciting photos of the trip to Geneva and maybe a picture of Dolly with the bride (in fact Dolly could have been a bridesmaid if only she had been asked as she certainly is pretty enough!).

Dolly's days out

In the month of June Dolly has had some memorable events. The winners of Dolly for a Day (organised by Eastbourne Borough Council) took Dolly to Camber sands for the day.

Then in the grand tradition of VW going to summer festivals Dolly went to Glyndebourne opera festival and then to Charleston summer Music festival.

A highlight for Dolly was taking four young Eastbourne men to their school prom - what cool dudes

So all in all a busy month couples with trips to Germany and Dorset.

Dolly in Devon

Dolly was in Devon in May with Jess and Rachel who went to a friends wedding in Somerset and then onto North Devon for a holiday. What a great way to travel to a wedding - in a VW Camper van! Jess kindly sent me some of her holiday photos so I could share them with our viewers (unfortunately the wedding day was rather wet so not photos of the bride and groom!)

Dolly's Press Release

Cruise the UK Aboard the Dashing Dolly VW

Holidaymakers across Europe are being offered a unique opportunity to explore the country’s most beautiful beaches and stunning countryside locations as Eastbourne Holiday Campers launch Dolly, a 21st century VW.

From March, keen explorers will be able to hire the brand new 2010 VW Camper Van from Eastbourne Holiday Campers based in the country’s sunniest place and tour the best locations around the UK and further into Europe in a real retro inspired vehicle.

The brand new model, currently the only UK van available for hire with power-assisted steering, offers the most reliable option for a VW camper holiday allowing tourists to create their very own room with a view aboard a fun and iconic camper.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Susan Morris said “We are extremely excited to have Eastbourne Holiday Campers set up in Eastbourne and offer a unique option for holidaymakers looking for a break with a difference. The vans are very fun and mean that visitors have the freedom to explore a range of locations, not only here in the south east but further afield too, with many living the dream inspired by the VWs of the 60s and 70s. With such a strong portfolio of accommodation options here on the Sussex coast, the new camper van hire adds another dimension to our product and another reason for new visitors to make a trip to Eastbourne!”

Eastbourne Holiday Campers will be introducing the blue dashing Dolly from March this year, sleeping up to four passengers, with plans to introduce further vans throughout the year and they are already taking bookings from excited campers.

Whether holidaymakers are 25 or 75, the camper vans offer a great sense of freedom and well-being and come equipped with bike racks, awning, bed linen, and towels, everything the budding explorer needs.

David Irvine, owner of Eastbourne Holiday Campers said “As busy people ourselves, also running our holiday cottage business through eastbourneholidaycottages.co.uk, we realise how important a holiday is and our VW hire offers the perfect opportunity to get away from it all. Once our guests drive off in Dolly we are confident they will have a stress-free, relaxing and fun holiday.”

The VWs will also be members of the Camping and Caravan Club and holiday packages can be tailor made depending on where visitors would like to go, with advice given on campsites and attractions in the chosen destination.

Based in the East Sussex resort of Eastbourne, budding campers must visit the seaside destination to collect their VW before setting off on their own adventure. Whether staying within the south east and hopping from one seaside town to the next, travelling cross country to the more mountainous terrain of the Peak District, or over the channel for a European getaway; Eastbourne offers inspiring choices for an unforgettable week with endless possibilities.

Re-live the dream and hire a VW Camper van

An Eastbourne based company has just launched a new and innovative tourism service. Eastbourne Holiday Campers is owned by David Irvine and is hiring out iconic VW camper vans for those who wish to re-live the dreams of their youth or just have a great holiday with a difference. The camper vans are brand new and manufactured by Volkswagen in Brazil so provide complete reliability (as well as power steering). The first van available to hire has been named Dolly and she is a real stunner.

David says “We started by offering holiday cottages in Eastbourne (www.eastbourneholidaycottages.co.uk) and this has proved very popular so in addition this year we decided to diversify and become more mobile. Many of our guests are looking for a two week holiday so we thought we could offer Eastbourne as a base and let them take off for a week in a camper van followed by a week in one of our cottages. From our research many people just love the idea of holidaying in a retro VW camper van but would not wish to buy one. This way we take care of all the administration and insurance and our guests turn up and set off (after a few necessary bits of paperwork).

Whether you want a beach holiday or to explore the countryside, camper vans allow you the freedom of choice and create the ultimate room with a view. Our VW camper vans are brand new and therefore offer the most reliable option for a VW camper holiday. VW camper vans offer a unique experience and whether you are 25 or 75 you will love the freedom, well-being and sense of fun these iconic campers offer ”

The camper vans have a modern, powerful, water cooled VW engine with catalytic converter, servo assisted brakes, rack and pinion and power assisted steering (only available on 2010 models). They can accommodate four passengers with a double bed plus a roof bed (ideal for children). The outside stand alone awning can also be used for sleeping. Inside there is a fridge freezer, two burner hob, gas oven and sink with water pump. All crockery, cutlery, pots and pans have been selected to compliment the retro feel and provide you with everything you may need for your culinary delights. VW golf style reclining front seats, CD, radio, ipod docking station and four speakers add to your entertainment. Independent heating system, storage cupboards, and mains hook up cable for use at camp sites complete the home from home feeling.

David says “As busy people ourselves we realise how important a holiday is. Time is a very precious commodity and not something we can buy on line or pick up at our nearest supermarket. Holidays are something special, something people have worked hard for, something to cherish, something to look forward to. Therefore we can appreciate the need to get on and enjoy them, not to be bogged down in complicated paperwork or waiting for someone to return calls.
We aim to abolish frustration and provide an excellent customer service from the moment an enquiry hits our in-box or the phone rings. We know how important a quick response is and an answer to questions - so you can get on and plan. Once our guests drive off in Dolly we are confident they will have a stressfree, relaxing and fun holiday.”

At Eastbourne Holiday Camper Vans we have based our philosophy on our established holiday cottage businesswww.eastbourneholidaycottages.co.uk.

As busy people ourselves we realise how important a holiday is. Time is a very precious commodity and not something we can buy on line or pick up at your nearest supermarket. Your holiday is something special, something you have worked hard for, something to cherish, something to look forward to. Therefore we can appreciate you need to get on and enjoy, not be bogged down in complicated paperwork or wait for someone to return your calls.

We aim to abolish frustration and provide you with excellent customer service from the moment your enquiry hits our in box or you reach us by phone. We know how important a quick response is and an answer to your questions - so you can get on and plan.

Whether you are busy 30/40 year old somethings, juggling the school run, after school clubs, ballet lessons, shopping and hoping for a quick fix the Camper van experience can be your haven (with or without the kids!). Ditch the daily grind and hit the open road, abandon the regime, you no longer have to be prisoner to your wrist watch. Go with the flow, pull over for coffee in a little county pub, so what if it’s 3 o’clock in the afternoon and traditionally time for a cup of tea. Or why not have a simple supper by the campfire and watch the sunset - a distant memory from your youth.

For the baby boomers, the young 60 year olds take a step back in time and relive your youth to revisit those locations of memories. Only this time the VW camper vans have power steering, and the dodgy looking curtains have been replaced by lovely retro designs and stylish melamine. Reliability screams with a capital R as the new 2010 VW campervans are built for the 21st century.

As time is precious we have listed out some, links and campsites you may like to take advantage of. Not to regiment your holiday, oh gosh no, but just to help ease the path and remove any anxiety - and a little bit of a plan, albeit very loose is always quite useful.

The camper vans are well equipped with oven, hob, fridge freezer and all bedding and towels. We also include the awning and bike rack in the price. We have done our research, and some sites may in the first instance appear to be cheaper, but not everything is included. We have studied and hit the calculator keys and watch the total increase. With Eastbourne holiday camper vans what you see is what you get. We want to make this an easy experience so have adopted for an all inclusive price. This approach has been used in our business model for Eastbourne holiday cottages and our customers appreciate the ease and transparency when making a booking.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further information.
